BOTOXTM
Botox injections is one of the top cosmetic procedures performed, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Botox is a purified protein injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead, mouth and neck to smooth out crow’s feet, relaxes frown and worry lines, and neck lines. Botox injections block nerve impulses to localized muscles to relax the muscles to give you a more relax and rejuvenated appearance. Botox injections can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis (unusual, excessive, or abnormal sweating).
The procedure is safe with temporary side effects localized to the area of injections. Results can last 3-6 months. Results are dependent on Botox units received, injection technique, and the individual patient.

Dermal Fillers (Wrinkle Fillers)
Fillers can consist of fat, human collagen, bovine collagen, hyaluronic acid (found naturally in your body and decreases with age), or synthetic substances.Fillers are classified according to the levels of injections in the skin, duration of action, and acts as a filler (act as a substitute for collagen) or collagen stimulator (stimulates the natural production of collagen). Collagen stimulators (Sculptra and Radiesse) tends to last longer.
Fillers are use to treat:
- Wrinkle and folds
- Lip enhancement
- Shaping facial contours (cheeks, chin)
- Smile and frown lines
- Lipoatrophy
An experienced injector will choose the best filler for you to optimize your correction. Optimal results depend on the correct placement of the filler.
Fillers are very versatile and can be placed in many areas. Botox can also be used to enhance the effects of fillers.
RESTYLANE/PERLANETM
Restylane/Perlane is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in your body. Lasting longer than collagen, Restylane is injected more superficially into the dermis with a very fine needle. The results are instantaneous with a natural enhancement. Smoothing out folds and wrinkles can make the face look years younger. Perlane is larger and thicker therefore injected deeper than Restylane for deeper grooves. These products can be used together to complement each other. They are safe and lasts between 6-9 months. Rare side effects including allergic reactions are reported. There may be some bruising and swelling immediately post injection.

RADIESSETM
Radiesse consists of calcium hydroxylapatite (normal constituent of bone) spheres suspended in gel. It does not elicit an allergic response. It can be considered more of a filler implant and therefore longer lasting. It may last up to two years. The duration is dependent on age, lifestyle, muscle activity. Radiesse can be used in laugh lines (nasolabial folds), chin and cheek augmentation, temple wasting, depressed scars, and non-surgical rhinoplasty.

SCULPTRATM
Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic biocompatible polymer that is safe and non-allergic. It has been used as a surgical suture material for years. It is considered a collagen stimulator to promote production of your body’s natural collagen in the treated area. Sculptra is used more for larger volume corrections such as loss of cheek volume, temple wasting, and lipoatrophy (facial fat loss). The augmentation of the cheek areas can also lift the nasolabial grooves (laugh lines).
Since Sculptra is a collagen stimulator, it takes time for your body to manufacture new collagen. Full correction and optimal results may not be visualized for several months. Scupltra has been shown to last for two years or longer.

IPL (Intensed Pulse Light)
Also referred to as Fotofacial is used to treat multiple skin conditions:
- Sun damage
- Flushing, redness and broken blood vessels
- Brown and age spots on face, neck, chest, hands, arms
- Skin texture and large pores
- Laser hair removal
- Poikiloderma (brown and red discoloration on the neck and chest area)
- In conjuction with other procedures like the Levulan PDL therapy, Botox, etc.
This photorejuvenation treatment provides overall skin improvement with minimal downtime. IPL is great for someone who is looking for a gradual and natural way to treat aging skin without any downtime. Improvement is effective but more subtle and accomplished over a series of treatments.
Our practice utilizes the Palomar IPL.

VBEAMTM LASER
This is a pulse dye laser. The Vbeam specifically targets blood vessels including:
- Broken capillaries
- Spider veins
- Rosacea
- Red acne scars
- Vascular birth marks
The vessels are gently heated and coagulated. The body absorbs the treated blood as the lesion fades away. It is gentle and safe enough to be used in infants and children. Because of its dynamic cooling device, treatments are well tolerated.

GENTLE:YagTM LASER
This laser has a wavelength (1064 nm) that can treat hair, larger and deeper blood vessels, and for nonablative rejuvenation. Laser hair reduction offers long lasting results with minimal discomfort for all skin tones. Hair can be removed from all parts of the body including lips, chheks, legs, arms, underarms, and back. It can feel like a small snap of a rubber band. A series of treatment is recommended for the best results due to your hair density, hair cycle, ethnicity, hormones, and metabolism. Short-term side effects may include redness and swelling around the hair follicles. Limiting sun exposure and the use of sun protection is recommended.
Leg veins are treated with injections (sclerotherapy) or lasers (1064nm is the optimal wavelength). The laser is best for smaller veins (red telangiectasias or violaceous vessels). A combination of sclerotherapy and lasers can also be used. Optimal treatment is best accomplished with a personalized approach.

FRAXEL Re:pairTM
What is the Fraxel Re:pair Laser?
- Newest generation of fractional resurfacing laser. This is a CO2 laser that is safer than the old gold standard CO2 laser due to its unique fractionated technology.
-
Uses laser light to create microscopic columns in the skin. The treatment penetrates deep into the skin to remove old, damaged skin cells and replaces your skin with new healthy, glowing skin. There is normal microscopic zones between the laser skin to help regenerate new skin with less downtime. Long term studies on this laser did not show any long lasting side effects (no scarring, no hypopigmentation, no lines of demarcation)
- Indications
- Wrinkles (Face, Neck, Chest) and Laxity (Sagginess)
- can cause skin tightening to lift wrinkles
- improves eye wrinkles and eye skin looseness
- smoothes lip lines around mouth
- Improves skin irregular texture and roughness from age and sundamage on face, neck and chest
- Corrects sun spots and age spots
- Corrects sun induced redness
- Improves acne and surgical scar
- What should be expected during and after treatment?
- Fast healing with minimal downtime.
- The procedure is performed in our office.
- Local anesthetic is used. There should be minimal or no pain.
- Immediately following treatment you will be red and swollen, which will fade in about one week.
- Soon after treatment, your skin will feel softer and look brighter and be more even. Over time you will see more skin tightening and your skin will look younger.
- How is the Repair laser different from other laser?
- Unlike other laser (ie. Fraxel Re:store laser) that may require multiple treatments to get results, the Fraxel Re:pair laser usually require ONE treatment. This means one week of downtime rather than multiple times.
- Unlike other “photorejuvenation” lasers, this CO2 laser embellishes on the gold standard CO2 resurfacing laser that is proven to deliver results.
- Procedure of choice for age related deep lines, hard to treat lip lines, sagging face and neck, more pronounced photodamaged

FRAXEL Re:storeTM
This laser is a nonablative laser that also produces thousands of microscopic columns in your skin known as MicroThermal Zones. This treatment eliminates old skin and uses the body’s own natural healing process to create new healthy tissue. This “fractional” treatment leaves the surrounding tissue unaffected and intact so the skin heals faster and minimizes side effects. Effective treatment usually requies 3-5 sessions. There is minimum downtime, most patients can return to normal activity the next day. You will continue to see benefits weeks-months later.

Diolite Laser
This laser is used to treat specific age/sun spots, smaller brown growths, or smaller vessels. The laser targets more superficial lesions. There is minimal pain.
Erbium Laser
The Erbium laser is a superficial ablative laser. This laser removes more superficial layers than the CO2 resurfacing laser. The same indications include wrinkles, scars, superficial growths, and photodamaged skin. However, the CO2 laser is more effective at tissue contraction and skin tightening leading to more improvement in wrinkle reduction and skin sagginess.
Photodynamic Therapy
PDT is a process by which a solutionAminolevulinic acid (ALA: Levulan) is applied to the skin and activated by a specific wavelength of light (blue light, red light, IPL or pulse dye laser). Photodynamic treatment is indicated for:
- Actinic keratoses ("pre-cancerous" lesions)
- Acne
- Photodamage (improving skin texture, improving pigmentation)
- Reducing pore size and oiliness
- Treating sebaceous hyperplasia (enlarged oily glands)
- Treating hidradenitis suppurativa
Levulan is preferentially absorbed by abnormal cancer cells, sebaceous glands, or damaged aging cells. The Levulan is a painless, clear fluid that is left on the skin from several minutes to several hours. This incubation period varies depending on the targeted condition. The Levulan is then exposed to the various light or laser source. Dicromfort is variable with this treatment. A cooling fan is used during treatment to minimize the discomfort. After the treatment your skin will be red. In some people, there may be some mild swelling. You must avoid sunlight or bright indoor light for 48 hours after the treatment. You may experience some peeling and crusting (especially if you have skin cancers). There are no scarring and no systemic side effects. For acne treatment, optimal results are obtained with 2-4 treatments at 2-3 weeks interval. To achieve maximum improvement of sun damage, mottled pigmentation, skin tone and texture, a series of 3 treatments 2-4 weeks apart is most effective. PDT is a well tolerated and non-ovasive treatment with excellent clinical and cosmetic outcome.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution into the vein with a fine needle to cause inflammation of the blood vessel wall which causes the vein to collapse. The blood and vein than is absorbed by the body’s own natural response. Sclerotherapy treats spider veins (small dilated superficial veins) and telangiectasias on the legs. Larger varicose bulging veins are best treated surgically, especially if there are accompanying pain or discomfort.
Patients may experience a temporary stinging or cramping during the injection as the solution enters the vein. No sedation or anesthesia is required. There maybe postinflammatory discoloration that fades over time. The treated vessels gradually disappears over the following weeks.
Results are variable depending on the patient, the severity of the condition and the extent of improvement that is desired. Several treatment sessions are usually recommended.
Cosmetic Mole Removal
Any mole or growth will need to be evaluated for suspicious features or skin cancer before removal. If a lesion is suspicious, it will be removed and send for histological evaluation. If a growth or mole is determined to be benign, the lesion can be removed for cosmetic reasons. In this case, your insurance will not cover the cause for the removal. The price of the removal is dependent on the size, location and method of removal. |
