CO2 Laser Resurfacing (CO2RE ® Laser)
Traditional CO2 lasers are the gold standard in laser resurfacing to give you the most dramatic improvement in treating wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation and skin tightening in just one treatment. However, traditional non-fractionated CO2 lasers can cause increase risks of delayed hypopigmenatation (white discoloration), prolonged redness, and scarring. Unlike traditional CO2 lasers, the CO2RE CO2 laser is the newest generation of fractionated lasers that can give you excellent results with minimal downtime and increase safety.
Fractional CO2 lasers like the CO2RE create tiny islands of vaporized skin that are surrounded by healthy tissue. This healthy tissue aids with re-epithelialization and healing, shortening patient downtime and treatment recovery time to just a few days. Unlike other fractionated CO2 lasers, the Co2RE’s multi-depth technology can treat superficial, mid-level and deep dermal in a single treatment. The specific treatment is selected for you depending on your skin concern. For brown sun-induced freckling and improvement of fine lines and texture, a more superficial treatment is used. A deeper setting can be used to treat deep wrinkles like upper lip wrinkles, skin laxity, acne scarring and more complex scarring. The superficial and deep treatments can be combined for a CO2RE specific treatment in one pass. The CO2RE can also used in the traditional CO2 resurfacing setting should the need arises.
Fractionated CO2 resurfacing is for patients who wishes for dramatic changes with 1-2 treatments and can afford 1 week of downtime. The advantage to this newest technology is that it can be tailored to the individual patient.
Fraxel DUAL is a non-ablative, non-invasive laser with two wavelengths. The superficial wavelength targets pigmentation, brown spots and pre-cancereous lesions. The deeper wavelength targets wrinkles, acne scarring, surgical scars and stimulates collagen. The intensity of the treatment level is customized for each patient to achieve smoother, brighter and younger looking skin. Unlike other ablative lasers, the Fraxel DUAL can be used off the face to treat the neck, chest and hands.
The laser is safe for all skin types and requires minimal downtime. The social downtime is usually 2-4 days for the mild redness and swelling to recede. There is minimal discomfort during the treatment with topical numbing.
Typically a series of 3-5 treatments are needed every 4-6 weeks apart. Optimal improvement is usually visible in 2-3 months.
Fraxel is effective on:
- Fine lines and wrinkles—crow’s feet, upper lip lines, fine facial wrinkles
- Scars—acne scars, surgical scars, hyperpigmented (discolored) scars
- Pigmentation--brown spots, resistant melasma
- Stretch marks
- Improve skin texture and pore size
- Actinic Keratosis—common pre-cancerous skin condition
An IPL (Intense Pulse Light) delivers pulses of safe, effective and visible light. A treatment will rejuvenate and improve your skin with no downtime, little discomfort and minimal risk. An IPL treatment is ideal for visible signs of sun damage and aging such as brown spots, redness and skin blotchiness. This treatment or the Vbeam® laser are effective options to improve redness and flushing from rosacea, as medications generally cannot treat these signs and symptoms of rosacea. Many people suffering from rosacea are able to decrease or discontinue their medications.
IPL treatments can be used on any part of the skin but is not safe in darker skin types. Several treatments are recommended for optimal results. Your skin will become smoother and more uniform in color.
