Jenny Widmaier, licensed aesthetician

Jenny earned her marketing degree from the University of Florida.  She then became a successful sales representative and earned many awards.  Her interest in cosmetic led her to obtain her licensure as an aesthetician.  She worked as an aesthetic manager before joining Southside Dermatology.

Microdermabrasion

A medical grade machine is used to gently exfoliate and remove dead layers of skin to leave you with glowing, fresh, and healthy skin.  This procedure involves using a highly controlled spray of crystals to gently and painlessly exfoliate your skin while a gentle vacuum suction removes the crystal with the dead skin cells.  Through a series of treatments, the skin is stimulated to produce new superficial skin for a smoother and uniform appearance. The procedure can be used on all skin types to treat the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, knees, and elbows.

Microdermabrasion does not require any chemical and is safe for sensitive skin, except for rosacea.
Microdermabrasion can be combined with extractions to optimize removal of blackheads, whiteheads, milia cysts, or compacted pores.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels utilize pharmaceutical grade acid solutions to improve the superficial appearance of the skin.  Chemical peels are classified according to superficial, medium, or deep peels.  Medium and deep peels are performed by our physician.  Superficial peels (glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, mandelic acid, or resorcinol) can be performed by our trained aesthetician and staff.

These superficial peels are generally utilized for:

  • Acne
  • Dull, tired skin
  • Blocked pores
  • Melasma
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damaged skin with age spots and roughness

Superficial peels are safe with minimal downtime.  You may experience redness that lasts for minutes to a few hours.  There may be temporary flaking and dryness for a few days.  Depending on the condition that you are treating, several treatments may be recommended.  Chemical peels can be combined with a light microdermabrasion.

Optimal clinical results can be achieved with a good skin care regimen.

Facial Treatments

Facials are a great way to relax, be pampered and maintain healthy skin.  They freshen up your skin and increase circulation to help your skin with a more healthy glow.  Treatments are individualize based upon your needs and skin types.

Types of facials include:

  • Exfoliating facial (removes dry, dead layers of skin)
  • Hydrating facial ( improves dehydrated and irritated skin)
  • Deep Pore Cleansing facial (cleans clogged pores)

Professional Skin Care Products

There are many cosmaceutical products to choose from and it can get confusing.  Cosmaceutical products are not regulated by the FDA and can make any claim of effectiveness.  At Southside Dermatology, we try to offer you quality products and companies that have attempted to perform research on their products.  We may not carry all products from one line because we try to pick what we feel are the best products from each line.  We also value the feedback we get from our patients. We continue to replace products if there is a more beneficial substitute.

Our skin care regimens are individualized because we can combine prescription products with cosmeceuticals.  Regimens are determined on your skin care conditions, skin types and sensitivities.  Our aesthetician work with our physician and physician assistants to analyze your skin, address your concerns and determine the best treatment for you.
