About Microneedling

Seasoned dermatologist Dr. Mary Pentel is pleased to offer microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) at Dermatology Southeast in Jacksonville, FL. Microneedling uses multiple fine-gauge needles to effectively and safely create micro-injuries in your skin. These micro-injuries trigger the natural production of elastin and collagen, two nutrients that increase the overall health and appearance of your complexion. Easily combined with other skin treatments, such as serums or PRP (platelet-rich plasma), microneedling may reduce scars, large pores, and stretch marks. Schedule a consultation at Dermatology Southeast to learn more about the benefits of microneedling and how we can personalize our treatment to meet your unique needs and goals.

RF Microneedling with Lutronic Genius™

RF microneedling with Lutronic Genius is effective in the treatment of scars, poor skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and skin laxity. Safe for use on multiple areas of the face and body, Lutronic Genius regenerates collagen and elastin deep below the skin's surface to help you achieve a more youthful complexion.

Candidates for microneedling

You could benefit from microneedling if you have mild skin issues, like a slight decrease in firmness, uneven texture, sunspots, or overly large pores. Microneedling treatments may also minimize the appearance of unsightly stretch marks and acne scars. You should be willing to wait a while before seeing improvements from your microneedling procedure because the collagen and elastin will need time to develop you'll see a visible impact on your complexion. The end results, though, will reveal healthier, glowing skin.

Microneedling Treatment

We complete microneedling treatments in one of our private treatment rooms, and it takes 30 – 60 minutes to complete. To start, we'll apply a numbing cream or local anesthesia to your skin to provide optimal comfort. We'll clean the treatment area before passing the microneedling handpiece evenly over the skin. After the microneedling is over, we can apply a topical treatment like PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or a serum with a vitamin infusion so the nutrients can penetrate deeper into the skin. We'll also massage in a moisturizer and sun protection because your skin will be more sensitive after the treatment.

after your appointment

After your treatment, you may experience mild swelling or redness, but these symptoms are normal and usually subside by the following day. It may take about 1 – 2 months for the elastin and collagen supply to increase until you notice significant improvements in the health and appearance of your treated skin. Most patients get 3 – 6 sessions to attain optimal results. These treatments are usually spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart. The number of sessions you require will vary based on your skin's condition and your cosmetic goals. During your consultation, Dr. Pentel can estimate the number of treatments you may need.
