About cellulite reduction

Cellulite is fibrous tissue that forms under the skin (usually around the stomach, hips, or thighs) and can create a bumpy, dimpled appearance. No matter how thin and fit you are, there is, unfortunately, nothing you can do to stop cellulite from developing. However, thanks to various technologies (like Cellulaze™, Cellfina®, Profound® RF, and VelaShape®), we can dramatically reduce the appearance of cellulite. Leading dermatologist Dr. Mary Pentel is excited to offer cellulite reduction at  Dermatology Southeast in Jacksonville, FL. In addition, Dr. Pentel also uses subcision and fillers to diminish the appearance of unsightly cellulite.

Candidates for cellulite reduction

Cosmetic treatment is a great option for people who struggle with cellulite.  However, you may not be a good candidate for cellulite reduction if you have diabetes, varicose veins, an infection, or loose skin. Pregnant women and people taking blood thinners should also not undergo cellulite treatment. Those most likely to benefit from cellulite reduction:

  • Are at a healthy weight
  • Have cellulite on their stomach, legs, or hips
  • Have highly elastic skin

cellulite reduction Technique

During your initial consultation, Dr. Pentel will assess the areas you would like to address and will create a custom treatment plan that is unique to your needs. Your cellulite reduction may use Cellulaze, Cellfina, VelaShape, Profound®  RF, subcsion, fillers, or a combination of these therapies to soften the appearance of unwanted cellulite. Regardless of the method used, the fibrous bands that cause cellulite will be targeted to relax the dimpled tissue. The results will reveal smoother-looking skin.

after your appointment

All cellulite reduction treatments are outpatient procedures, which means you'll be able to resume your daily routine immediately following your procedure. However, we recommend that you avoid vigorous exercise for a couple of days to allow the treated area time to recover. Common side effects of cellulite reduction include tenderness, swelling, and bruising. For best results, patients should follow all post-treatment care instructions accordingly and maintain a healthy, stable weight.
