Restylane and PerlaneAt The Spa & Laser Center at Southside Dermatology, Dr. Mary Pentel and her team provide a wide range of cosmetic enhancements for both men and women who are ready to fight off the signs of aging on their face. When fine lines and wrinkles develop due to skin laxity, patients may feel as though their only solution is expensive, invasive procedures such as plastic surgery. While severe cases of volume loss and skin laxity may be improved with a surgical facelift, it is not the only way to be proactive against the signs the aging for those with mild to moderate concerns. Injectables are commonly used by patients at our practice to reduce the depth and overall appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. From neuromodulators to collagen stimulators, our practice has many injectables to meet the needs of our patients. Many individuals enjoy the advantages of Restylane and Perlane.
Restylane and Perlane are dermal fillers composed of hyaluronic acid. This is a substance naturally occurring in the body and skin. Naturally enhancing the smile can be done easily with these smooth injectables. Restylane is injected as a superficial treatment into the dermis with a very fine needle. Instant results are achieved with a beautiful, natural look, smoothing out the folds and wrinkles that can result in aging skin. Perlane is also effective at smoothing out folds and wrinkles, but is better suited for deeper grooves and folds. Perlane is a thicker formula than Restylane, making it better for areas such as the nasolabial folds that develop around the nose and mouth.
These products can be used together to complement each other and provide safe, effective results. They typically last anywhere between six to nine months and can be reinjected regularly to maintain the appearance of youthful skin. There are some rare side effects, which may occur including allergic reactions, bruising, and swelling, but these can be reduced by consulting with Dr. Mary Pentel beforehand to determine if these treatments are right for you.
